It was fantastic to meet all our founding children and their families at the transition evening. It was such a wonderful occasion to finally discuss our plans for September and I hope your children enjoyed meeting their form tutor and other members of their form.
The Blue Coat Sixth formers were also very excited to meet the young people they will also be helping to support.
Below are some of the key take away pieces of information from the event.
Transition Day Thursday 30th September 2022
On transition day the children will have a timetable of lessons that they will follow as a class. Children will in the midst of the day sit the NGRT test which is a 30-minute reading test which gives a reading age and assesses your child’s ability to decode and comprehend. They do not need to worry about this. It is an online quiz and will feel like many activities they currently do in primary school. This data will enable us before the summer (along with their SATs results) to identify any children in need of support.
Children will be given a transition bag. In the bag will be a Transition Booklet, a copy of Homer’s Odyssey and a hard copy of the Family Handbook.
Data Capture Form
You have been emailed asking you to fill out a ‘data capture form’. It is extremely important that we receive this form we have to have accurate and statutory (legal) information in relation to your child. The deadline for submission is Friday 24th June. If you are struggling to complete it please telephone the school and we can fill the information in with you over the phone.
This form also directs you to key policies that we would like you to read in advance of your child starting with us in September: Behaviour Policy, Attendance Policy, Anti-Bullying Policy, Mobile Devices Policy, Uniform Policy. These key policies reflect our ethos and high expectations.
My Child at School and Parent Pay
Over the summer we will send you details of the two above apps. My Child At School will enable you to view all relevant information about your child (attendance, behaviour, rewards, timetable, and notifications). Parent Pay is the facility for cash less catering and trips. We do not hold cash on the school site. You will use Parent Pay to pay for school meals and trips. If your child is entitled to free school meals, your child’s account will automatically be credited with the standard amount. You can however still top up your child’s account.
